Bio: Yvonne Donofrio, Donofrio Photography

I was born and raised in Brook Park, Ohio. At the age of 23 I developed a passion for photography and traveled to California seeking knowledge. I settled in San Francisco and obtained an Associate of Science degree in Commercial Photography. Once I had the technical aspects of photography under my belt, I began an independent study session which allowed me the opportunity to study light and composition for two years.

This independent study gave me a greater understanding of how light defines space.

My first job was as a staff photographer at a printing house in San Francisco where I gained experience photographing a wide variety of products. I also received an unexpected education on the real life nuts and bolts of catalog production - from beginning to end. Understanding catalog production beyond the photographic stage of the process taught me what to do during the photographic stage to ensure image integrity. I worked as a staff photographer for six years.

I left my staff photographer position to open a San Francisco bay area studio which offered a full service experience: from concept to the printed or web page. It was at this point in my career that I also entered the realm of advertising photography and reached out to artists and crafts people as well. During the ten years I operated my studio I had the opportunity to meet many business people and artists with whom I had the great pleasure of building long-lasting, trusting relationships.

As technology changes the heartbeat of photography, I have continued to embrace the art and develop my skills so that I can produce expressive, color-managed imagery.

I have relocated to Solon, Ohio (Cleveland area) and am looking forward to developing lasting business relationships while continuing the art and business of product photography for use in catalogs, advertising and on the web.
